Dummy:
Like the homuncule and the mandragola, the dummy is an image of the soul, in primitive belief. The same applies to the scarecrow, the doll and any figure that bears a human likeness. Hence the belief in its magic properties.
The dumdum collection is an ongoing project where a fragment of a character or idea is illustrated within in the symbol of the body/soul’s centre: the heart. The result is a series of fun/dark/humourless/humorous/sad/joyful illustrations. We call the resultant characters Dumdums. Every month, 3 new Dumdums are released, and 3 previous Dumdums are archived forever. This constant refresh and rebirth gives more space for synchronicity; the hope is that you find your Dumdum at the perfect time.
